LIttle Red Riding Hood / 2024 / Ten Yetman (Winnipeg, Canada) / Acrylic and Ink on Canvas / 5 × 7 inches
“I have heard many, many versions that veer quite far from the original European Fairytale ‘Little Red Riding Hood.’ I have to say that for me, I always yearn to hear a version that is a little more on the tragic side. This is probably because the more recent the version gets, the less and less morbid the story becomes. In a newer version I read to my child, The Grandmother didn't get eaten, Red riding hood didn't get eaten, and the wolf just ran away and learned a lesson. It was really disturbing. So In my version, I have depicted Red Riding Hood inside the Wolf's stomach, and the wolf crying tears of regret. So everybody wins.”
Ten Yetman is a visual artist born in Winnipeg, Canada. After attending the Fine Arts Program at the University of Manitoba (2004-2009) she spent many years living in Mexico City and afterwards in Nagoya, Japan teaching art classes and exhibiting her work.
Heavily influenced by her experiences abroad, her work explores cultural and historical expressions of death and immortality. After moving back to Canada in 2013 she has been continuing to paint and exhibit work both in Canada and the United States.
Ten's work is a hyper-juxtaposition, constantly referencing both "comforting" bright colours and patterns, candies and sweets, parties and beach scenes, along with "uncomfortable" images of horror.

This past year has been financially rough for most of us and if you are feeling indecisive regarding a purchase and pondering if you should spend right now or not, Trash Lamb invites you to consider this:
Some might say that during lean times there is no room for anything but the necessities of life-- food, water, safety and shelter.
Yet others might respond that to only exist is not enough.
Passion, creativity, art, and imagination are also essential for us as humans to be able to continue on. Survival alone is insufficient ❤️️🗑🐑🌴
